Uber den Künstler

Albertus Verhoesen was a Dutch artist who was born in Utrecht on 16 June 1806, he died in Utrecht on 24 February 1881. He lived in Utrecht and between 1824 and 1826 in Hilversum. He returned to Utrecht and from 1834 to 1853 he lived in Amersfoort. In 1853 he settled in Utrecht. He was apprenticed to B. van Straaten, J. van Ravenzwaay, and P.G. van Os. Thereafter he had lived together with B.C. Koekkoek for a while. He painted landscapes with cattle and poultry. He also was an etcher and lithographer. He taught D. van Lokhorst and his son J.M. Verhoesen. He exhibited in Amsterdam, The Hague and Leeuwarden. His work is included in the collection of Centraal Museum Utrecht, Museum Boymans van Beuningen Rotterdam, and Rijksprentenkabinet in Amsterdam.
