Antonio Musa Brasavola (1500, Ferrara – 1555, Ferrara), also spelled Brassavola or Brasavoli, was an Italian physicist who specialized in medicine, botany and anatomy. He studied under Niccolò Leoniceno and Giovanni Manardo at the University of Ferrara. Later on Brasavola was appointed a professor of medicine at Ferrara. He was an expert in the works of Galen and Hippocrates. Brasavola was the consulting physician of Francis I, king of France, Ercolo II, prince of Este, king Charles V, Henry VIII and several popes: Paul III, Leo X, Clement VIII and Julius III.
