Uber den Künstler

Philippe Pasqua (1965, Grasse, France) is a French self-taught painter and sculptor. He lives and works in Clichy-la Garenne, For many years Pasqua has been inspired by the human body, head, face, and skull. He paints – often from photographs - with loosely rendered, expressive brushstrokes. His subjects of inspiration also appear in his drawings and his layered, mixed-media works on paper. In his carefully formed sculptures, he concentrates primarily on skulls, often covering them with a patina of gold or silver or augmenting them with butterfly wings. Pasqua assembles his creations at his studio the Storage, where visitors can experience the excessiveness, beauty, and fragility of his artworks. Pasqua had a solo show ‘Paperworks’ and a group show, both at Galerie Laurent Strouk, Paris (2016). Other exhibitions: Zemack Contemporary Art at Miami (2014); Damian Hurst vs. Philippe Pasqua, SKULL, Galerie Laurent Strouk (2012).
