If you are one of the lucky ones, then you might just have four days off this weekend! Of course this means that you can sleep in plenty, watch all the episodes of your favourite Netflix shows back to back and eat chocolate eggs until your heart’s content. But perhaps you are looking for something a little more inspiring to do this weekend, like taking a stroll around Amsterdam’s lovely Spiegelkwartier.

This charming little neighborhood is home to some of the city’s finest art and antique dealers, take a look at some of our suggestions and plan your route accordingly!

Spiegelkwartier Amsterdam

Galerie Lieve Hemel

Located at the very beginning of the Nieuwe Spiegelstraat, this gallery is where you will find the very best of Dutch contemporary realism such as this painting by Peter van Poppel.

It’s title loosely translated as Kitchenfruit, this small work is a little less risqué then most of Poppels other paintings, but still leaves enough up to your imagination!

De Schildercamer

A little further down the street you will find De Schildercamer, specialized in European fine paintings since 1965.

Their collection ranges from old master paintings to more traditional works produced in the 20th century, such as Skating on Ice, a familiar sight for the Amsterdam natives amongst us!

Ans Hemke-Kuilboer Juwelier & Antiquair

The most exceptional antique jewellery can be found on the corner of the Nieuwe Spiegelstraat and the Prinsengracht.

The necklaces in this combination of art nouveau enamel jewellery have only just been added to the collection, often recognizable as inspired by natural forms, perfectly in time for spring!
