Diederick Lodewijk Bennewitz Jr. was a direct representative of the firm Bennewitz & Zonen(Bennewitz & Sons). The firm was established after a division in the collaboration of the families Bennewitz & Bonebakker in their popular silversmithing company of Amsterdam. Although this division happend relatively early in the respective careers of both Bennewitz and Bonebakker families, they each gained their positions as one of the largest silver suppliers in the Netherlands in the 19th century independentaly.
Bennewitz & Zonen provided objects of great diversity in size: from candelabras and bouilloirs to tobacco boxes and tea sets. Gold and silver were often used, sometimes in combination with crystal glass.
