• Über Künstler

  Nico Vrielink (1958, Reusel) absolvierte ein Lehramtsstudium an einer Kunstakademie in Belgien. Das Unterrichten entpuppte sich jedoch nicht als seine Berufung und seit 1984 ist er allein als Künstler tätig.

  1985 lernte Vrielink auf einer seiner vielen Reisen seine Frau Jeane in Singapur kennen. Es ist Liebe auf den ersten Blick, und seitdem ist Jeane Vrielinks größte Inspirationsquelle. Sie kann zu Recht seine Muse genannt werden. Vrielink hat mehr als 4000 Kunstwerke mit ihr als Motiv geschaffen. Nicht nur das Modell ist über die Jahre gleich geblieben, sondern auch die Bemalung. Meist (halb)nackt, orientalisch, realistisch, idyllisch, wiedererkennbar und exotisch.

  Sein Ausgangspunkt ist es, das Gesicht seiner Frau als Perfektion darzustellen. Der restliche Korpus, das Dekor und die Gesamtlackierung werden kontinuierlich von dunkel bis hell daran angepasst. Durch die Diskretion, die Vrielink in seine Arbeit legt, bleibt eine natürliche Distanz zwischen Model und Betrachter.

  Vrielink und Jeane haben im Laufe der Jahre an vielen verschiedenen Orten gelebt, von den Niederlanden bis nach Frankreich und Bali. All diese Orte haben ihren Einfluss auf sein Werk. Vrielinks Arbeit wurde auf der ganzen Welt bewundert und gefeiert, wie die vielen Ausstellungen an den exotischsten Orten belegen.
