• Über Kunstwerk
  Ron Mills is a muralist, a painter and a printmaker living in Spain and the United States. His current series of large-scale pieces are gestures toward the unknowable, the infinitely intricate and immense dimensions of the universe, inner and outer that compose and surround us. The textured metallic pigments and paint surfaces shimmer as we move around them, creating inviting multi-layered veils that remind of our deepest desires to explore without naming. He achieves this effect by using acrylic paint over heavy gel that is branch-patted with metallic and other powdered pigments on the canvas. The eye is compelled to scan, to dwell in fascination, to embrace that which is greater than a single narrative or illusory image. He claims: “Beauty is to me found when the mind reaches its end point. When words fail. To engage this aspiration, as a painter, I court images that are not previously known or named, in passages that hint at luminous sources often behind ‘the thicket’ of confusion, unresolved flux and serendipity.”

  Ronald DeWitt Mills (später Mills-Pinyas) ist Ateliermaler, Grafiker und Wandmaler.

  Ron lebt derzeit mit seiner Frau Maria Isabel Pinyas-Mills in Arenys de Mar, Spanien und in Amity, Oregon.

  Mills-Pinyas hat 1973 einen BA in Atelierkunst und Philosophie von der University of California, Santa Barbara und 1976 einen Master of Fine Arts in Atelierkunst und Philosophie von der Claremont Graduate University in Claremont, Kalifornien.

  Als Professor entwickelte Mills-Pinyas Lehrpläne und unterrichtete verschiedene Kurse in Zeichnen, Malen, Grafik, Diplomarbeit, Multimedia-Kunstformen, Design und Kunsttheorie.

  Ron Mills' Gemälde enthüllen das Schwache, Zerbrechliche und Zarte in der Schöpfung in einer kraftvollen Welt, die voller Farbexplosionen und wunderschöner molekularer Subrealitäten ist.

  In Mills' Werk können wir die Dekonstruktion dessen erleben, was ist, und die Bedrohung dessen, was wir für konkret und real halten. Wir wissen nicht, ob wir den Anfang oder das Ende miterleben, aber wir wissen, dass wir die Essenz des organischen Lebens durch die molekulare Metamorphose in all seiner Farbe, Struktur und manchmal auch seiner schrecklichen Schönheit miterleben.
