    Cor de Wolff was born on April 18, 1889 in Middelburg and died on June 9, 1963 in Amsterdam.
    Initially he was a house painter.

    As an artist he mainly concentrated on figure representations, street scenes and performances for the public. The painting for sale is not, obviously. He also worked a lot with batik (techniques) and designed wall hangings.

    Another variant of this painting is known, with dark colors and tighter lines, auctioned in 2010 at Christies. This painting is signed and dated 1932.

    Artiquair had the painting cleaned and a new layer of varnish applied.

    Cor de WOLFF (Middelburg 1889 - Amsterdam 1963) De Wolff begann seine künstlerische Karriere mit Batiken und Holzschnitten. Später wandte er sich der Malerei zu und übte eine Vielzahl von Grafiktechniken. Seine Lieblingsthemen waren Messen, Pubs, Märkte usw., Themen, an denen viele Menschen beteiligt sind, oft auf amüsante Weise. Ein Großteil seiner Arbeiten wird vom Centraal Museum in Utrecht aufbewahrt, hauptsächlich jedoch von privaten Sammlern.
