  • Über Kunstwerk
    This sturdy yet elegant wall clock can be called Arts & Crafts, although it does not come from England. It was designed by Albin Muller and made in a workshop in Germany. The design is entirely based on honest use of materials, beautiful lines and perfect proportions. It is an example of design as we have come to know it in the course of the twentieth century. There are also table models of this clock, but a wall model is not known. It is a very rare piece of early Art Nouveau of exceptional quality. The clockwork has been completely overhauled and runs perfectly.

    Albin Müller (13. Dezember 1871 - 2. Oktober 1941) war ein deutscher Architekt und Designer, der in Darmstadt tätig war. 1906 wurde er in die Darmstädter Künstlerkolonie berufen, wo er nach dem Tod von Joseph Maria Olbrich (1908) der leitende Architekt wurde. 1907 wurde er zum Professor ernannt und unterrichtete von 1907 bis 1911 Angewandte Kunst. 1918 wurde Albinmüller zusammen mit Kasimir Edschmid zum Präsidenten des neu geschaffenen Kunstrates in Darmstadt ernannt. 1926 wurde Albin Müller zum Architekten der Deutschen Theaterausstellung in Magdeburg ernannt. 1934 wandte er sich der Landschaftsmalerei zu und arbeitete auch als Schriftsteller.
